Speaking at the Home & Garden Show: A Journey of Decluttering and Organizing

This spring, we had the incredible opportunity to speak at the Edmonton and Calgary Home & Garden Shows where we shared our passion and tips for decluttering and organizing with a lively and engaged audience. As professional organizers this an exciting event for us where we had the chance to share our expertise to help others find their way to a more simple and organized life.

Preparing for the Show

When we were first invited to speak, we knew that decluttering and organizing would be a timely and relatable topic. Many of the attendees are homeowners and renters looking for practical tips to make their living spaces more functional and beautiful. We wanted to convey not just the "how-to" but the "why" behind decluttering—how it impacts not just our physical space, but our mental well-being, productivity, and overall lifestyle.

In writing our presentation, we focused on practical strategies that anyone could implement, regardless of the size of their home or the level of clutter they were dealing with. We also wanted to highlight how organizing doesn't just transform spaces, it transforms lives. It's about creating a space that works for you and your family, bringing a sense of calm and order into daily life.

On Stage: Connecting with the Audience

Standing on the stage, we could feel the energy of the crowd. We could see many attendees had experienced the overwhelm that comes with clutter—the nodding heads and tears of emotion in their eyes.

Wanting to connect deeper, we decided to sit down on the stage. Rather than presenting, it felt more right to just have a conversation with the audience. We chatted about why we fell in love with transforming spaces. How in the beginning, we loved the beauty behind it all but as we worked with our clients, we discovered a much deeper purpose in the impact it has in people's lives. The crowd seemed to connect with this idea—there were lots of nods and smiles as I talked about the importance of having homes that reflect both function and beauty.

Sharing Tips and Techniques

During our talk, we introduced some of our favorite methods and tips to decluttering and organizing, some of the myths and mistakes people often make trying to get organized, and we shared some of our favorite organizing tools and products. We chatted about how to get started, having realistic goals, and the steps you can take to achieve organized bliss.

We shared some examples from our own client experiences, showed some before and after photos and answered many questions from the audience.

Engaging with Attendees Post-Talk

After our presentation, we had the opportunity to connect with people one-on-one. Many shared their personal challenges with clutter and how it was affecting their lives. Some were seniors approaching the need to downsize, some were parents struggling with toys and school papers, while others were busy professionals looking to streamline their homes. Regardless of background or lifestyle, the desire for a more organized, stress-free life is universal. We offered personalized advice and shared resources to help get started. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, and we left the event feeling inspired by the conversations we had.

Final Thoughts

Speaking at the Home & Garden Show was an amazing experience. It reaffirmed our belief that decluttering and organizing aren’t just about physical spaces—it's about creating a more balanced and simple life. Moving forward, we are excited to continue sharing our passion with others and helping them make meaningful and impactful changes toward a clutter-free life.

Until next time,

Angie & Pam
